Time resolved neuronal ‘-omics’ landscapes

Single Cell Discoveries (SCD) is a Contract Research Organization (CRO) providing single cell RNA sequencing services and research. One of our goals is to develop novel single cell sequencing technology to solve the complex biological problems in the real world. SCD is home to state-of-the-art facilities, including the latest Illumina sequencers, (acoustic) liquid handlers, and bioinformatic support. We are a young company with a highly motivated and create team.

SCD is based on the Utrecht Science Park, the Netherlands designated as the most competitive region of Europe. SCD has close ties to the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research, and access to many facilities on the Utrecht Science Park campus.

NERVSPAN project

The aim of this project is to develop and perform full length single cell transcriptomics in C. elegans. Current long-read single-cell transcriptomic methods suffer from low sensitivity and incompatibility with C. elegans. At SCD we have years of expertise in developing new single-cell profiling methods in a wide range of organisms and cell-types. In your research, you will perform dissociation experiments on C. elegans to obtain single cells or nuclei, develop new single-cell RNA sequencing tools, and analyse the resulting data.

Objectives

In this project you will :
  1. Developing a novel highly sensitive long-read scRNA-seq technology.
  2. Improving single-cell or single nuclei isolation from C. elegans.
  3. Performing single-cell sequencing data analysis.
